The New River crested at just under 100,000 cubic feet per second mark at around midnight Thursday, January 31. Not the highest ever, of course–2010 saw big flows like this, but the highest in a while.

Big water sure looks flat in photos. Make no mistake, those waves in Fayette Station are pumping. This was at around 80,000 cfs.
