A few grand 1sts: First Thrill Kitty crash and burn for one 9-year-old (“What was that?”). First solo paddles around flatwater. First tear-free whitewater runs.
First time completely missing Surprise on purpose? Probably not, but won’t be the last. (“Look at the hole over there!”)
